About THE ARTIST

 As a child, Betsy Glick dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. Realizing during college, her career choice would often mean treating sick/dying animals, being an empath she switched gears and graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Communications degree with a new goal of creating and sharing uplifting and motivational stories and messages in the media.

In the 1990s, she began a successful award-winning career in media relations.  After the loss of her own pets in the early 2000s, Betsy returned to her roots, studying drawing at the renowned Torpedo Factory in Alexandrai, VA, inspired to find a way to bring joy to pet owners during and after their pet’s golden years.  

In 2015, Betsy combined her love of animals and passion for creativity,   first by gifting several pet portraits to family and friends, and then by officially opening her online storefront, Pets-By-Bets.com. She has since exhibited her work at the Dulles Pet Expo, the Barrel Oak Winery, and several national silent auctions. 

Betsy has since created original pencil portraits for many clients around the country, including actor Joe Mantegna, the star of the hit CBS television show, Criminal Minds, whose beloved and now-deceased Maltese, “Chooch,” is featured on her website. 

It gives Betsy great pleasure to meet pet lovers, peruse favorite pet photos, share stories and capture each pet’s persona in a unique, hand-drawn and one-of-a-kind work of art.
